Transformation of Silence

2024-ongoing

This is ongoing installation that is developed in collaboration with other women.

I work with clay to create hanging, bell-shaped sculptures cast from my own breasts prior to surgery. The material’s rich tactility and muted tones, combined with the possibility for the bells to ring, give these forms a voice, allowing them to break silence, draw attention, and sound an alarm.

The work engages with the often silent and invisible experiences women endure during breast cancer or its preventive treatments. By transforming absence and isolation into sound, the installation seeks to generate resonance and to articulate a collective voice.

I have begun taking casts from other women who have voluntarily chosen to
participate. These include women who have undergone or are undergoing cancer treatments, those who have faced preventive surgeries, as well as women whose close female relatives have lived through these experiences and who wish to express solidarity. The aim is to create an evolving installation composed of bells cast from the bodies of different women.
