Diaries of a Textile Worker
2017
During my interviews with the former workers of a closed textile mill, one of the interviewees gifted me her personal annual diaries dated from the 1980s and 1990s. With her permission, I exhibit a selection of pages from them as an important element of telling the stories of women, who used to work at the mill. A combination of notes related to her job at the mill (such as textile defects, annual work norms, labor pays, etc) and her very personal ones (including important anniversaries, health and pregnancy advices, utility bills, garments sketches, poetry and food recipes) represents an incredible record of these times and a daily life of each female worker, which usually is not a subject of public discussions.
